عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ، قَالَ: قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا فِينَا خَطِيبًا، بِمَاءٍ يُدْعَى خُمًّا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، وَوَعَظَ وَذَكَّرَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: ” أَمَّا بَعْدُ، أَلاَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَ، وَأَنَا تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ ثَقَلَيْنِ: أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَخُذُوا بِكِتَابِ اللهِ، وَاسْتَمْسِكُوا بِهِ “… ثُمَّ قَالَ: ” وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي، أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي، أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي “

“حضرت زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ایک دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مکہ اور مدینہ کے درمیان ’خُم‘ نامی ایک تالاب پر ہمیں خطبہ دیا۔ آپ ﷺ نے اللہ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی، وعظ فرمایا اور نصیحت کی۔ پھر فرمایا: ‘امابعد! اے لوگوں! میں تو بس ایک انسان ہوں، قریب ہے کہ میرے رب کا قاصد (موت کا فرشتہ) آئے اور میں اس کی دعوت قبول کر لوں۔ میں تمہارے درمیان دو بھاری (اور اہم) چیزیں چھوڑے جا رہا ہوں: ان میں پہلی چیز اللہ کی کتاب ہے جس میں ہدایت اور نور ہے، پس اللہ کی کتاب کو مضبوطی سے تھامے رکھو…’ پھر فرمایا: ‘اور میرے اہل بیعت! میں تمہیں اپنے اہل بیت کے بارے میں اللہ یاد دلاتا ہوں، میں تمہیں اپنے اہل بیت کے بارے میں اللہ یاد دلاتا ہوں، میں تمہیں اپنے اہل بیت کے بارے میں اللہ یاد دلاتا ہوں۔'”
