Introduction:
Wasif Ali Wasif was a great Sufi intellectual, columnist, and poet of Urdu and Punjabi language. He sought to revive traditional mysticism, which is reflected in his writings. He left a lasting impression on Urdu literature and mysticism. Wasif Ali Wasif gave new ideas and meaning to Islamic thought. Life History Wasif Ali Wasif:
Wasif Ali Wasif was born into a respectable family on January 15, 1929, in the Khushab district. He belonged to the Awan tribe. His father, Malik Muhammad Arif, was a Sufi (Chishti) and an educator. He received his bachelor's degree from the Government College of Jhang. Later, he moved to Lahore and passed an MA in English (Literature) from Punjab University Lahore. According to the Punjab Gazette, he took the civil service exam in 1954. Wasif did not join the service.
In 1962, Wasif established the Lahore English College for English education. He had a great knowledge of the Qur'an and Sunnah, "Sufism," and Islamic history. At the same time, he knew the current situation. He tried to explain the old Sufi ideas and made them easy for the common people.
Wasif Ali Wasif was fond of reading the poetry of Maulana Rome and Khawaja Ghulam Farid, a great Punjabi poet and elder of the Chishti order. People gathered around him because of his knowledge. In these Majalis (Majalis), he explained Islamic virtues and Sufism. He also wrote a column in the Nawa-e-Waqt newspaper called "Guftagu". Hazrat Wasif Ali Wasif passed away on January 18, 1993, and was buried in Mayani SB. Bahawalpur Road Lahore.
